A Choice of the Heart
Loneliness, a sharp and aching sting,
Especially when in a crowd, I find no solace.
Surrounded by many who once chose my name,
Yet I wonder – if alone with another, would they choose me still?
When I say I would choose you in a heartbeat,
Know it’s more than a fleeting moment,
More than a single tick of time –
It’s every drop of blood that courses through my veins,
Every breath that fills my weary lungs.
I would choose you with the rhythm of my pulse,
With every capillary that carries life,
Cleansing my soul of its burdens and waste,
With each contraction, each gentle release of my heart.
I would choose you, for in that choice lies my essence,
A tether to life, a reason to endure.
So I ask you, amidst this room,
Would you choose me over another?
Or is my loneliness as heavy as I fear,
A truth wrapped in shadows, a silence unbroken?
