The Story Of Tea

Every cup has a story, 

and the beginning's always the best. 

Before the "chai patti" hits the water,

there's one who's coerced by the rest.

In pairs of twos, in groups of threes,

after rounds of gossip, ripe and sweet.

When conversations die down after they've been deep, 

there's always someone with "Let's have some tea".

Now, the universe has an unsaid rule-

the suggestor is always exempted.

Then history turns back it's pages

and past brewers are promptly sent.

There's always one-

usually the one who made it first.

The taste was tried, tasted and approved,

now they're the ones everyone trusts.

Pleadings don't work, neither do refusals.

"It's the last time", the rest of the group claims. 

Yet deep inside, they all know-

the cycle's just an on loop game.
