Tidal Wave

Loving you is like water.
It ripples through me,
creating a hurricane in my chest
You’re the eye of my storm,
the peace in my wreckage
The voices quieten down,
unfazed by the possibility of drowning
I take a step towards your tidal wave,
I let this feeling engulf my inhibitions,
You drizzle over my senescent heart
I blossom in your presence.
And if you feel it ebbing away,
Will you lay beside me?
Hear my heart pounding your name?
I’ll gulp these words down,
Hoping you linger for another day.
When your fragrance fades,
I won’t wash this pain
I’ll embrace the reminder
that I was capable of love
And if you’re sea sick,
you can crash at my shore
I know I will long for you
more than I know of you.
